It was the morning of 27 October 2021. The Sun sparkled as I got in my car. It was a warm sunny day, yet not hot. The signs of Autumn were visible everywhere, scattered leaves littering the road. After an hour of driving through busy roads, I finally arrived at my test center. As I stepped forward to enter the test center, my father said to me: “Good Luck “. Shortly after that, I stepped inside, and I headed down to the examination room.
This is the story of my experience of attempting the IELTS test.
What is IELTS?
But before I share my experience with you, I want to share that what is the IELTS test. The International English Language Testing System is an international standardizing test of English language prQoficiency for non-native English language speakers. It was established in 1989.
My Experience when taking IELTS
The Examination Room
After I went into the test center, I was ushered by the Invigilator into the Examination room. After that, I was about to attempt the Speaking test. But up till then, I was a bit nervous but on the contrary, with the help of summoning my confidence, I slowly and steadily got the hang of the examination room.
The Speaking Test
After submitting a bunch of paperwork, I found myself going to the speaking room. The room was a small one, with a divider separating the examiner and the test taker. Sitting in the test room was altogether a different experience than a mock test. It was a professional and shrewd air. At the start of the test, I saw the examiner turning on a Voice Recorder. The speaking test lasted 14 minutes.
The Listening, Reading, and Writing Test.
I was going to attempt the Listening, Reading, and Writing test. The Listening test was by far the easiest, however, I finished the test earlier and it was very boring for me to sit through the next 10 minutes. By Far, I think that Listening is my most strong module of English.
Next up was the Reading test, which was a bit of a problem for me, since I had to go through the difficult process of Reading For Detail and not skimming, on which I finish reading quickly. I finished the test in about 30 minutes, and for the next 30 minutes, all I had to do was sit and wait.
The Writing Test was another tough one for me, since I typed fast and I was typing an essay at a good pace, I found myself finishing the test 40 minutes prior. It is a very tedious process to just sit and wait. The environment was very strict.
After the Exit
I finally had to go home. I was glad since I was fretting about staying for so much time doing nothing in the examination room. But as the invigilator lead me up the stairs, I was certain that I had a perfect score in Listening.
The score of My IELTS test. I am very satisfied with my score.
