PAKISTAN TO HOST 2025 CHAMPIONS TROPHY

Pakistan to host 2025 Champions Trophy, Associate nations in the mix for hosting future World Cups.

Cricket has always been a big sport, but now it has become bigger. According to an independent survey, in 2019 Cricket was voted as the second most popular sport in the world, just behind Football/Soccer. Cricket has always and is being considered a huge sport, and mainly influential.

The Big Picture

In terms of Cricket, opposed to Football/Soccer, Venues have always been and still are a big shaper of a game. Different pitches have different characteristics, for example, Australia and New Zealand pitches are very fast and bouncy, while Sub Continent pitches are very slow and low. South Africa pitches swing, while Caribbean pitches are flat straight out.

But these days cricket has been shaping out. Countries that have never been imagined playing cricket possibly 20 years ago. These days, they are now hosting international matches and playing amongst big teams. And the current world cup has been proving a big resource for Associate nations.

Some countries like Pakistan have been abandoned from playing. But in the case of Pakistan, The Country has bounced back and managed to host international teams.

Future Venues for Tournaments

A big landmark is that Pakistan will be hosting a world tournament for the first time in nearly three decades when the Champions Trophy comes to its shores in 2025.

On the other hand, there are some associate countries that have never dreamt of playing or hosting an international tournament. yet, they do host it. Just like the case of the USA, will also host a global cricket competition – the T20 World Cup in June 2024 – alongside the West Indies.

It also proves that the globalization of cricket will happen in the next decade. Starting with the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA, several marquee cricket tournaments will be played in non-traditional countries.

Pakistan, who won the 2017 Champions Trophy, will host the 2025 Edition

Namibia will co-host the first men’s World Cup in Africa since 2003, alongside Zimbabwe and South Africa, in 2027. And in 2030, Scotland and Ireland will join England to stage the T20 World Cup.

It proves that the globalization of cricket will happen and Cricket will find its way into the Olympics. And maybe Cricket will be even a top sport than it is now in the days to come.
